Günther Harms: „Say no to any war!“
„Bertha von Suttner schrieb ihr bekanntes Buch ‚Die Waffen nieder!‘ vor weit über 100 Jahren. Wann werden wir endlich schlauer?“ fragt Günther Harms in seinem Lied „Say no to any war!“
Say no to any war!
More than 100 years ago,
a woman born in Austria
she wrote a famous book she called:
Lay down your arms! Lay down your arms!
She had a vision of a peaceful world,
but what have we done so far?
Many millions killed by soldiers’ hands:
This can’t be our way, this can’t be our way!
So say no, no, no to more weapons,
say no, no, no, to any war!
Say yes, I do agree with all civil means, diplomacy.
//:War’s an option for those who lost their mind –
leaving death, despair and grief behind!://
Increasing budgets for ‘defense’,
always new weapons threatening,
deadly business from arms exports:
Rise up and say: not in my name!
Sending soldiers far away,
but conflicts there still remain,
self-interests often count more than peace:
This can’t be our way, this can’t be our way!
So say no, no, no (…)
Drones with rockets, they can shoot,
killing people like in a computer game,
but it’s bloody and cruel reality:
Rise up and say: not in my name!
In our country atomic bombs are stored,
the nuclear ban treaty’s still ignored,
pilots train to drop these bombs.
This can’t be our way, this can’t be our way!
So say no, no, no to more weapons,
say no, no, no to any war!
Say yes, I do agree with all civil means, diplomacy.
All people in the world wish for peace,
wish to feel free, they share the desire
to be happy like you and me.
The idea of war is the real enemy!
The idea to kill is the real enemy!

Mit „Say no to any war!“ hat er uns aus der Seele geschrieben! Vielen Dank!
